Under 12s win Mid-Cheshire District FA Cup!

E-mail Print

Witton Albion Juniors FC Under 12s have won the Mid-Cheshire District FA Cup after a close fought game against Vale on Sunday 8th May.

The two teams met in the 2009-10 U11s League Cup final when Vale came out on top, but this season the Witton lads were determined not to have a repeat result!

Vale went ahead within the first minute, but Witton Albion never gave up and managed to eventually overcome their opponents by 4 goals to 3.

The FA Cup win follows hot on the heels of a very successful Minehead Tournament for the team - where they got through to the final against some very stiff opposition. As runners-up they received a fine trophy from non other than 1966 World Cup hero Sir Geoff Hurst. A fitting end to their long weekend of effort.

Well done to all players, coaches and parents !

Witton Albion Juniors FC Under 13s have won the Cheshire FA Minor Cup.

The competition is open to clubs across the whole of Cheshire, attracting participation from as far afield as Wallasey and Hyde.

The final, which was played away from home at Gatley, Stockport on Sunday 27th March 2011, saw the Witton Albion lads beat the Cheadle and Gatley Junior FC Under 13s by a single goal.

The team got a bye into the second round but then had to get past some worthy opposition in the form of Stockport Junior Blues, FC Hyde Athletic, Inter Linnets JFC, Macclesfield Boys Junior FC and Winnington Avenue YC JFC to get to the final.

Winning the Cheshire FA Minor Cup is no mean feat and Witton Albion's victory is indeed only the second time a club from the Mid Cheshire Youth Football League has won this Competition in the last twenty years.

Well done to all players, coaches and parents !

Players wanted for U12s

Last year's Under 11s team has had a fantastic first year at the 11-a-side game.

A couple of our players have signed with a Premier League club, so that means that there is now an opportunity for one or two suitably talented
individuals to join an already strong squad ready for the this season at U12s.

If you feel you want to give it a go then
contact Head Coach Paul Forster

.

Don't hang around -
we're expecting a lot of interest.

Here's to another great season!
